For the third year in a row, Greenpeace has just launched its DETOX CATWALK challenging fashion corporates to fulfill their recent commitment for the environment. The purpose is to encourage brands to eliminate hazardous chemicals from their entire supply chain by 2020!
For years and years, industrial companies have been using the environment, and especially our water sources as a dumping ground for chemicals. Many local communities live near manufacturing capacities, and use polluted water without knowing.
Over 70 major clothing labels made a commitment to Greenpeace.
"H&M, Benneton and Inditex - which owns several brands including Zara, Pull & Bear, Massimo Dutti and Bershka - were ranked at the top of the list and described as “Detox committed companies that are ahead of the field."
Described as "Evolution Mode", Mango, Adidas, Burberry, Primark, Levis, Puma and M&S are featured in the middle part of the ranking. They are “committed to Detox and have made progress implementing their plans, but their actions need to evolve faster”.
Nike, Esprit and Limited Brands - which owns Victoria’s Secret and La Senza are ranked the lowest. Despite of their commitment, " they are failing to take individual responsibility for their supply chain’s hazardous chemical pollution."
