The photographer Jody MacDonald has explored the most mystical and captivating places hidden by our planet. Her shots are incredible and will make you want to switch your daily office job and explore!
You can discover her photos in several international websites such as National Geographic, Red Bull, Outside, BBC, Patagonia, Islands, and Men’s Journal and others.
Jody is not a common documentary photographer. She grew up in Saudi Arabia, fell in love with photography at university where she got a Bachelors specialising in « Outdoor Recreation ». After finishing her studies, she found a job as a photo editor for a big outdoor retailer in Canada, but quickly became bored.
'' I was looking at photos all day long of athletes in amazing places doing amazing things in the outdoors. ''
The short experience made her realise she needed to be in « the field » to pursue her passion : shooting professional athletes in unique places! For the last 10 years, she has sailed around the world while documenting adventure sports.
Her current motivation is to orientate her work towards environmental subjects by taking photos of wildlife conservation. She focused her last project on « Rajan » who is the last known salt water swimming elephant on Earth. He lives on the Indian island of Havelock and once shared its life with many others of its kind. They were employed to swim logs from outer islands but Rajan is the only survivor.
