Safia Minney, Founder and CEO of the ethical brand « People Tree », recently announced the launch of her book and Kickstarter campaign whose goal is to help raise consciousness of modern slavery in the fashion industry by highlighting every day men’s, women’s and children’s dreadful working conditions.
People are today forced to make clothing and feel constrained to supply their low cost and competitive workforce to serve the most powerful fashion brand’s.
The project involves the work of Miki Alcalde who will organise and lead the several interviews, testimonials and shoot micro documentaries. He will also create and design content in the wholehearted and committed Slave to Fashion website.
“This book and campaign, Slave of Fashion, is really important to me because it gives people an understanding of modern slavery in the garment industry and shows how we can eradicate slavery both from business and our day-to-day consumption.”
Minney has also written “The Naked Fashion: The New Sustainable Fashion Revolution”, a book about the “new sustainable fashion revolution” that involves the help of the designer Vivienne Westwood, actress-activist Emma Watson, and reigning queen of the green carpet Livia Firth.
